49 Turkish citizens, captured by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, at the Mosul consulate, were taken to residence of the ISIL-designated governor in Mosul, Hashim al-Jammas, said Çetiner Çetin, Yeni Safak reporter.

The group including three children and two women, are expected to return back to Turkey later on Thursday.

The consul general Ozturk Yilmaz and several members of Turkey's special forces, spent the night at the governor's office although the ISIL had previously planned to take them out of the city.
