Turkish Armed Forces on Thursday increased security measures to its border with Syria near the Cizre district in the southeastern province of Şırnak.

While tanks and armored vehicles were deployed on the high hills of the border city, Turkish soldiers continued their regular patrols on the border line.

The other side of the border, Derko Hemku and Andiver cities of Syria, is controlled by the pro-Kurdish People Protection Unit, or YPG, fighters.

In past weeks, Turkey measured its border security to reduce ongoing terror threats along border districts as well as the Kurdish populated provinces in southern and southeastern areas of the country.

Turkish military has been conducting air strikes on the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, terrorists in Iraq and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, in Syria as well as police operations against the terrorist groups across the country.

According to government officials, more than 260 PKK terrorists were killed on Iraq's Qandil Mountain and over 1300 terror suspects were detained from different Turkish cities during the counter terror operations.
