The outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, has claimed responsibility for the murders of two police officers in Şanlıurfa earlier on Wednesday.

The two officers were killed by the PKK-linked armed group while they were at home in Ceylanpınar, reported a news site, known as the mouthpiece of the outlawed organization.

The PKK terrorists also confiscated identity cards and guns of the slain officers, who were identified as Feyyaz Özsahra and Okan Acar.

Police sources said that the shooting does not appear random, because they were shot in the head at a close range . Şanlıurfa governor İzzettin Küçük has said initial findings suggest that the incident could be linked with a terrorist attack.

But, Ziya Çalışkan, an MP from the pro-Kurdish HDP party, has refused the claim, suggesting the death of the officers could have been related with a terrorist attack.

The officers had been found dead in an execution-style shooting at home in the southeastern province's Ceylanpınar district.

The earlier reports said that both victims had multiple gunshot wounds in their heads.
