An unknown number of members of the terrorist organization named DHKP-C, the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front, took Mehmet Selim Kiraz, the prosecutor of the Berkin Elvan case, hostage in Istanbul's Çağlayan courthouse on Tuesday, March 31.
A photograph published through the terrorists' twitter account showed that the prosecutor was being taken hostage by a masked man with a pistol in his hand.
The armed men said if their demands are not fulfilled within 15:36, they would kill the prosecutor.
The incident comes at a time when the Turkish nation is shocked by a historic nationwide power cut.
Teenager Berkin Elvan was heavily injured during Gezi protests in Istanbul's Okmeydanı district on June 16, 2013. He died after 269 days in a coma in a Istanbul hospital.
