While the anti-ISIL coalition is targeting to cut the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL's, financial link with the world along with its ongoing airstrikes, Germany, a member of the coalition, is accused of selling oil controlled by the terror group and paying them in cash.
The report said that Germany purchased oil from the terrorist group, despite the European Union's rhetoric against the militants, and supplied other member states of the EU by using two routes.
According to an information note submitted to the official authorities by the intelligence unit, the strongest EU member country supplied oil taken from ISIL, who has seized wide areas of Iraq, including its oil-producing regions, through Tartus port of war-torn Syria.
Germany also used Iran and Dubai as other options to send ISIL oil, which priced between 15 to 20 dollars per barrel.
The report unveiled that Germany's oil companies working in Iraq and Syria conducted the oil supply process.
Though the report did not specify any German oil supplier's name, it stated the “big" companies facilitated by the coalition airstrikes operate the oil supply covertly.
The report stated that Syria's Bashar Al-Assad has a strong share to this oil selling as the Assad regime and ISIL agreed on electric and water supply to the areas they controlled.
As the oil tankers carry ISIL oil to the Tartus port through Assad-controlled areas, German companies also provide a share of their business, the intelligence report said. It unveiled that the oil transaction in the conflicted area were controlled by “serious" distributors.
